As part of the Gerakan Menginspirasi untuk Pemberdayaan dan Transformasi Asa Ramadhan (GEMPITA RAMADHAN) program, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), together with Tasawuf Underground, organized a meaningful social initiative on Friday, 7 March 2025, at the Tasawuf Underground Islamic boarding school.

Tasawuf Underground is a community, educational institution, social empowerment centre, and Islamic boarding school founded by Halim Ambiya on 8 February 2012. Since its establishment, the organization has focused on promoting Sufi teachings through social media and conducting inclusive religious outreach for punk and street-connected communities.

Through an approach that combines Sufi teachings and psychotherapy, Tasawuf Underground provides a welcoming learning environment for marginalized groups. Its emphasis on spiritual development, personal transformation, and social inclusion made it an appropriate setting for sharing care and hope during the holy month of Ramadan.

Supported by PT Insight Investments Management, the GEMPITA RAMADHAN program was delivered as a short-term Islamic boarding school program that provided spiritual learning and practical life values for participants from punk and street-connected communities.

The program also distributed 50 personal hygiene kits to support participants’ health, hygiene, and well-being. This assistance complemented the spiritual learning activities by addressing participants’ practical daily needs.

The initiative reflects the spirit of collaboration between YIIM, PT Insight Investments Management and Tasawuf Underground. Each organization contributed its resources, experience, and community connections to create an activity that combined spiritual education, social care, and empowerment.

The program also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 on ending poverty, SDG 3 on ensuring healthy lives and well-being, and SDG 17 on strengthening partnerships for sustainable development.

Through GEMPITA RAMADHAN, the collaborating organizations delivered more than material assistance. The initiative created a space of belonging, strengthened participants’ confidence, and brought warmth and renewed hope to communities often excluded from mainstream social services.

YIIM hopes this collaboration will inspire more inclusive and sustainable initiatives that empower marginalized communities and ensure that no one is left behind.
