YIIM Equips Aspiring AC Technicians with Skills for Economic Independence

Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) organized an entrepreneurship training program in AC servicing and cleaning for 10 participants from the Greater Jakarta area. The initiative was designed to equip participants with practical, market-relevant skills that could support their entry into employment or help them establish independent service businesses.

The program responded to the continued demand for reliable AC technicians across residential, commercial, and institutional settings. As the use of air-conditioning systems grows, routine cleaning, maintenance, and repair services offer viable income-generating opportunities for individuals with the appropriate technical skills.

Supported by PT Insight Investments Management, the program combined technical instruction with hands-on practice and introductory entrepreneurship learning. This approach ensured that participants not only understood how AC systems operate but were also able to practise the correct procedures for cleaning, inspecting, maintaining, and servicing the equipment.

During the training, participants learned how to identify essential AC components, use servicing tools safely, conduct standard cleaning procedures, recognise common technical issues, and perform basic maintenance. Practical sessions allowed participants to apply these skills directly under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Participants were also introduced to fundamental aspects of running a service-based business, including communicating with customers, maintaining service quality, calculating service costs, setting appropriate prices, managing work schedules, and recording income and expenses.

By combining technical proficiency with basic business management, the program sought to prepare participants for different economic pathways. Graduates can use their new skills to apply for work as AC technicians, offer services independently, or gradually develop their own microenterprises.

The training also strengthened participants’ confidence and understanding of professional work standards. Beyond technical ability, reliability, communication, discipline, safety, and customer trust are essential foundations for building a sustainable service business.

Through this initiative, YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management reaffirmed their commitment to promoting community empowerment through practical skills development. The collaboration demonstrates how social investment can create productive opportunities and help individuals build more independent and resilient livelihoods.

YIIM hopes the participants will continue practising their skills, expanding their customer networks, and applying the knowledge gained from the training to improve their economic well-being.
