Setapak! 2025, a social initiative founded by the Indonesian Students’ Association in Australia at the University of Melbourne, returned with a renewed commitment to supporting children’s education in Indonesia.

For its 2025 implementation, the program focused on developing SDN Way 1 Lunik in Way Lunik, Bandar Lampung. Over three days, volunteers and supporting organizations worked together to create a safer, more engaging, and better-equipped learning environment for the school’s students.

The program received support from Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight Investments Management, which served as a program sponsor. Their contribution helped make possible a series of activities covering school-facility improvements, interactive learning, and the provision of educational supplies.

Approximately 180 children participated in the learning activities. Through educational games and English-language sessions, they were encouraged to learn in an engaging environment that promoted curiosity, participation, and confidence.

Each child also received a school bag containing stationery and an appreciation gift. Drinking water and daily snacks were provided throughout the program to help participants remain comfortable and engaged during the activities.

Alongside the educational program, the initiative included the renovation of school facilities. These improvements were intended to create a more suitable and supportive physical environment in which children could learn, interact, and pursue their aspirations.

A total of 26 volunteers were directly involved in delivering the three-day program. Sponsor support helped meet their operational requirements, including transportation, accommodation, meals, and activity materials, enabling them to focus on serving the students and completing the planned activities.

Setapak! 2025 demonstrates the value of collaboration between student communities, nonprofit organizations, private-sector partners, volunteers, and schools. By combining resources, skills, and a shared commitment to education, the partners were able to address both the physical and experiential dimensions of learning.

The program contributes to SDG 4 on Quality Education by improving learning facilities and providing interactive educational opportunities. It also supports SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities by expanding access to learning resources for children in Way Lunik, as well as SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration across the education, nonprofit, student, and private sectors.

More than a short-term activity, Setapak! represents a meaningful step towards a more inclusive and sustainable learning environment. Its impact lies not only in renovated facilities or distributed supplies, but also in helping children feel supported, valued, and confident enough to imagine new possibilities for their future.
