The rapid growth of the barbershop industry presents promising commercial opportunities, generating an increasing demand for skilled hairdressers and professional barbers. However, the number of qualified workers capable of meeting this market demand remains limited. In accordance with its mission to provide practical skills, generate employment, and nurture new entrepreneurs, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) initiated this training program to cultivate self-reliant and productive human resources while enhancing long-term individual welfare.

Because the high cost of vocational barber courses often prevents disadvantaged individuals from enrolling, YIIM established the Inspiration Barbershop School (Sekolah Barbershop Inspirasi). Through this initiative, participants receive free professional training, allowing them to hone their haircutting techniques until fully proficient without incurring any financial burden. Upon completion, graduates can be placed in partner barbershops or begin their own microenterprises as mobile barbers.

To overcome the challenge of limited practice models during the learning process, the program arranged complimentary haircuts for local elementary and middle school students. This approach significantly increased the number of live models available, giving trainees extensive practical experience in handling different head shapes and hair textures.

The training was organized in collaboration with Susilo Wardoyo, owner of Rapih Jali, who served as lead facilitator and supervisor overseeing the development of each participant. Through regular weekly reporting, the foundation monitored key milestones in trainee discipline, technical execution, and barbershop revenue growth.

Through comprehensive vocational education and targeted mentorship, the Inspiration Barbershop program continues to equip individuals with sustainable skills to improve their livelihoods and achieve financial independence.
